Here’s What Sriram Had to Say To Us…
How do you start your day?
My day always starts off by me going to the gym at 5 am. A one hour work out first thing in the morning gives me the energy to have a very productive day.
How do you end your day?
Most of the time by spending quality time with my boys and catching up with the family to see how our days went.
What book has most impacted your life/business career?
The Greatest Salesman by Og Mandino. It is one of the reasons I got into business for myself as opposed to being an employee.
What is the biggest obstacle you’ve encountered and how did you overcome it?
In 2008, my granite business and my martial arts school both fell apart. I went into a deep depression for 3 years. How did I get out of it? My wife, who became sick and tired of my being depressed and not doing anything, left my two young boys to me and decided to go to school to become a social worker. In few months of finishing her school, she landed her dream job. I looked at her dedication and commitment and felt very ashamed of myself and decided that I will fight back and make something out of my life. With that, I started my transportation consulting business.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Be a free spirit and speak your mind. Follow your gut!
What’s the worst piece of advice you ever received?
Whatever is happening in your life is fate! Not true. I believe we have the power to change our fate; my wife showed me how to do that.
If you could have lunch with any three people in history, who would they be and why?
Mother Teresa, President Obama and Nelson Mandela.
- Mother Teressa showed and though the world to compassion and how to love the poor.
- President Obama taught that no matter what your back ground is, you can achieve your dreams despite all obstacles.
- Nelson Mandela taught me that we all need to have social responsibility and that one should not just live for oneself, but must work hard for the welfare of everyone.
What do you do to relax?
Gardening, spending time with my wife and two boys.
What is the one thing that you’ve learned that you wish to pass on to others?
Persistence and patience are secret to success in life whether it is your business or personal life. We don’t get love in our life, but we are given the opportunity to love someone. We don’t get great jobs, but we get the opportunity to prove ourselves. We don’t get to serve people, but we are given the opportunity to serve people. Opportunities are all over. To achieve greatness, we need the vision to see those opportunities and grab them.
